2015 Workshops / Tour Calendar - Howard Snyder Fine Art Photography
  • 2015 Workshops / Tour Calendar

I love photographing in the outdoors and I love teaching and sharing with others! I have a deep passion for what I do and I would love for you to be a part of it. If you are wondering, what it's like to go on a landscape photography workshop/tour with me, the quick answer is that it'll be like nothing you've ever done:

• The plan is that there is no plan. You see, the best thing to do is to be flexible and open to what each day brings. While we'll have a rough itinerary, the idea is to respond to whatever the conditions are doing at the moment and respond accordingly, in order to give ourselves the best chance to capture the best light, and come back with fantastic looking shots.

• We will all work together and I will be available as much or as little as you'd like me to be. Do you need help with filters? I am there for you! Would you like to learn how to bracket exposures to create an HDR or, would you like to learn how to focus stack a shot for extreme depth of field? We can do that too!

• But above all, and what I would love for you to take home with you, is an understanding of what it means to let go of preconceptions and be willing to see. That you learn to discover for yourself, what it takes to make a great photograph. Whether it is of grand vistas in some remote land, or a flower in your backyard. It all begins with learning to be open to what is really there, and learn to appreciate it, visualize it and then capture it with your camera.

My teaching style is not academic and I do not follow a strict curriculum. My experience tells me that it is best to be open to what each participant needs, while striking a balance to allow every participant to go home with fantastic images. My workshops are not entirely workshops, where the goal is to meet curriculum goals. And it is not a tour, which the only guidance that you will receive is to different destinations. My approach is a little bit in between: I will be available to share with you my extensive knowledge of on-the-field techniques, while also sharing with you all the gems and fantastic locations  included in each workshop/tour.

Each workshop/tour on the calendar focuses on making photographs and not in post-production. Each of my students will receive my video tutorial on Extending Dynamic range and learn how to create luminosity masks for proper developing techniques. I am also available for 1 on 1 private Photoshop instruction via Skype.

Check the workshop schedule below, and decide which one is for you. Some students have attended more than one workshop/tour on a particular year.
